london to rugby
the time had finally come
after 4 hours sleep and several visits to the bathroom (see 2 pound guiness, previous post)
a brief visit to mcdonalds for greasy food and coke (the best hangover cure on the planet)
off to the train station
i'm sure if anyone was following me, they were laughing their asses off
unlike bart with one set of tracks in each direction this was the big leagues
20 tracks - one direction, several train companies, all going to rugby at some point
after trying to get through the gate of one train company only to find my ticket wouldn't work
i bared my hungover, ignorant soul to an information booth attendant
she quickly eased my fears and sent me off in the right direction
reserved? what does that mean? i said as i sat in one of the only seats that could accomodate my large, brand-spankin-new baggage
someone has reserved this seat, if they come you'll have to vacate said another passenger
pins & needles for three stops until the attendant came around and removed the reserved signs
ah...finally i can rest
rugby is nothing like i expected - it's actually much like an american suburb
as a matter of fact there is a perkins-like restaurant next door to my holiday inn express
the room is large (for europe) and quite comfortable
bed is certainly much more comfortable than the place in london
of course, that's a body that had 4 hours sleep talking
perhaps i should judge later
someone took me to a wal-martish store to grab lunch today
pretty cheap...now that i'm on gap's dime
i'm told they have the best fish & chips somewhere around here
i'll be sure to check it out later
ah...and they have the most delicious IT guy here...yumlishiss
feel a cold or something starting to settle in
perhaps the lack of 18 hours cumulative sleep since i've arrived in jolly ole england
miss you all much!
xoxo,
Dan
